Bamba Strikes a US$250k Deal with Lions’ Den Business Mogul

Bamba Lands US$250k Investment From Lions' Den Investor

If you had a chance to see the latest episode of the new Kenyan TV series Lions’ Den, you probably saw Bamba’s own Shehzad Tejani and Harman Johar pitch to the show’s business moguls (appropriately referred to as the Lions). They asked some tough questions, but our team was ready! Bamba managed to pique the interest of one of the Lions.

We’re thrilled to announce that Bamba secured a KSh25 million investment deal (which is equivalent to US$250,000) with Darshan Chandaria. Darshan is one of the 5 Lions on the show who have pledged millions of shillings of their own personal wealth towards investing in ground-breaking ideas through Lions’ Den, which is powered by the largest commercial bank in East Africa, KCB Bank.

Not only will we be able to put this money towards expanding our operations throughout parts of Africa and South America, but we have no doubt that Darshan’s mentorship and guidance will help take Bamba to the next level. He’s the director and CEO of Chandaria group, one of the largest privately owned business groups in East and Central Africa, and has been instrumental in transforming Chandaria Group from a Kenyan family business into a Global Conglomerate.

Darshan is a philanthropist and visionary who is passionate about investing in innovative solutions that transform lives, making him a perfect fit for Bamba. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with him, and for his belief in the exciting work we’re doing!

So what’s it like being on the show?

Kenya’s Lions’ Den is based on popular international shows like Dragons’ Den and Shark Tank. While viewers get to see a polished, 45-minute version of the show, there’s much more that happens behind the scenes that viewers don’t get to see.

Next week we’ll have Harman Johar tell you more about what it was like pitching to the Lions, and a little bit about what was going on behind the scenes. Be sure to check back here next week (or subscribe to our weekly newsletter) to get an insider look into what it’s like to be an entrepreneur pitching on the show!
